Answering Your Questions About Skin Tightening
None of us can turn back time. But we can look younger than our chronological age. We'd like to talk to you about a revolutionary anti-aging treatment. Today, we answer some of the most frequently asked questions about skin tightening via Venus Freeze™.
What is Venus Freeze™ Skin Tightening?
Venus Freeze™ skin tightening takes advantage of multi-polar radio frequency and Pulsed Magnetic Fields in order to bring about amazing results. The treatment triggers the following processes:
- Collagen synthesis and contraction
- Neovascularity
- Fibroblast proliferation
- Lipolysis
What Does It Treat?
This skin tightening system treats a great deal of skin conditions. Thanks to the resulting collagen production, volume can be restored to the skin. This makes it a great alternative to cheek augmentation surgery. It can also minimize the appearance of wrinkles and cellulite.
Is It a Stand-Alone Treatment?
Venus Freeze™ skin tightening doesn't have to be a stand-alone treatment. When you come in for your initial consultation to discuss your aesthetic goals and candidacy, we can help you decide if you should combine this with another treatment.
What Results Can I Expect?
Since Venus Freeze™ isn't an invasive procedure, you can go straight back to your daily routine the day of your treatment. Rejuvenation will occur over the course of time. You'll notice your skin becoming progressively tighter, firmer and more toned. You'll notice less creasing and looseness. Moreover, you'll notice volume return to once-plump areas like the cheeks.
Am I a Good Candidate for Skin Tightening?
This is by far the most frequently asked question we get about our skin tightening treatments. For most of our clients, the answer is yes. Most people make good candidates for this skin tightening treatment. In general, you're most likely a good candidate for this treatment if:
- You want to correct diminishing facial volume
- You want to reverse the signs of aging
- You want to tighten lax skin
- You have reasonable expectations about the treatment and results
- You're in good general health
- You want to erase wrinkles, fine lines, creases or folds

Wart Removal: How Does It Work?
Warts are pretty common skin problems. They are usually non-cancerous, and they usually are not painful. Most warts will go away without any treatment, but in some cases, if they are not treated, they can grow deeper into your skin, become more numerous, or you may even spread them to someone else. There are several different ways to treat warts. The best of these options is cryotherapy, and for good reason. It’s important to see a qualified professional for wart removal so they can give you the best care possible.
Types of Warts
Warts are usually small growths that appear most frequently on your hands and your feet. Depending on the type of wart, they can look smooth and flat, but other types can have a circle-shaped or a cauliflower-ish appearance. Skin around the wart can also become lighter or darker.
Common
Common warts are usually found on both the hands and the feet and other places as well like your elbows. These are usually developed because of a weak immune system and can develop on adults and children alike.
Plantar
These warts usually appear on the bottom of your feet, usually on the heels. These can be mistaken for corns or calluses. They are hard patches of skin and usually have some dark, little specs on the tops of the warts themselves. They are painful because the entire amount of your body weight is being placed on them, and this pushes them deeper into your skin. It has been described as feeling like you are standing on a stone all the time. Sometimes, multiple small plantar warts will begin to group together into a large, flat cluster. This is called a mosaic wart.
A Closer Look at Wart Removal
There are different options for wart removal. Cryotherapy is a wart removal treatment that occurs when the professional freezes the wart off by applying liquid nitrogen to the affected area. Freezing products are available in most pharmacies; however, these are not as effective as professional treatments.
If you have a wart that you need to get removed, call us at Refresh Evolution to set up a consultation for wart removal. After checking out exactly what type of wart that you have, one of our experts can recommend the appropriate course of action for you to take. We are conveniently located in Pitt Meadows and Port Moody. Contact us today to schedule your appointment!
Wrinkle Smoothing via Fillers
If you are getting older, you have no doubt noticed that fine lines and wrinkles and a loss of facial volume in your cheeks have begun appearing. These unwelcome changes in your face can have you looking older than you actually feel, leading to lower self-esteem and even harming your work and relationships. Many people seem to feel that the only solution to problems like these is to have some type of surgery. However, many also would like to avoid surgery, since it can be risky, expensive, and require too much downtime. The good news is that treatments like fillers are available that are safer, less expensive, and require little to no downtime while still offering significant results.
A Closer Look at Fillers
If your cheeks have lost fullness or you are dealing with fine lines and wrinkles, fillers may be right for you. A filler usually contains hyaluronic acid to replace the amount that has been lost as you age.
Hyaluronic acid is a substance produced within your body and is found most commonly in muscles, soft tissue, and skin tissue. It acts like a sponge within each of your cells, cushioning joints, protecting your eyes, and hydrating your skin.
Skin depleted of hyaluronic acid become more thin and dry. The result is a loss of skin volume, which is particularly apparent in the face and cheek area. Injecting additional hyaluronic acid in the form of a filler can help restore your normal levels and reverse the drying process that leads to wrinkles and facial volume loss.
Are Fillers Right for Me?
Fillers may be right in your case if you want a temporary solution to a loss of fullness in your face or wrinkles. In order to have an optimum outcome, you should not be on blood thinners. The treatment may be right for you if you are healthy, a non-smoker, and have realistic expectations.
Is This a Permanent Solution?
No, fillers are not permanent. The product will be gradually metabolized by your body. On the other hand, it offers results that are soft and natural because we are only replacing hyaluronic acid that you have lost over the years. You will simply look like a younger version of yourself.
If you’re interested in non-surgical wrinkle reduction, you owe it to yourself to learn more information about fillers. To get started, contact us today at Refresh Evolution and book a consultation at our office in Port Moody or Pitt Meadows!

How Long Does BOTOX Take to Work?
With many cosmetic procedures, your results are either only temporary or take many months to become evident. For example, with surgical procedures, you must often wait for the bandages to be removed, the bruises to fade away and the swelling to decrease before you can see your ultimate results. This can require a great deal of patience and can keep you from feeling confident about your looks. However, BOTOX® is not only fast and easy but also produces quick, complete results so that you can feel great about yourself right away.
BOTOX® is an incredible minimally-invasive cosmetic treatment that is used around the world by men and women wanting to feel amazing in their own skin again. Whether you choose it for regaining your lost look of facial youthfulness or for getting a quick and easy brow lift, you will be amazed by your fast results.
How Does BOTOX® Work?
When considering how long BOTOX® takes to work, you will also want to consider how long each treatment takes. As you certainly know, some cosmetic treatments can take up hours of your time each day and require plenty of downtime. However, BOTOX® is much different from these in that it is a very swift treatment that you can easily fit into your schedule. Even if you have a very busy work schedule, you will have no trouble fitting a 15-minute appointment into your lunch hour or in between clients or tasks. With our quick services in our clinic, we will have you in and out of our office in no time with very little waiting to get into a treatment room.
It is also important to understand how BOTOX® smooths out your skin so that you will understand how it can work so quickly when compared to other cosmetic treatments. During your treatment, we will use a very narrow needle to inject a small amount of BOTOX® into the desired area. We make sure to use only the smallest possible dose that will give you the most natural-looking results. Once your treatment starts working, we want you to have a very mobile, beautiful face rather than one that appears frozen. We may change the dosage slightly on your follow-up appointments if we determine that you would respond better with an increased dosage. However, we will always customize your treatments to your exact needs as well as to your unique skin care goals. Although frozen face following BOTOX® injections was certainly a concern many years ago, it no longer has to be a concern when you choose a reputable practice, such as Refresh Evolution.
When we inject the BOTOX® under your skin, we are actually placing it into the tiny muscles within your face that you use all the time while you are awake to create all of your facial expressions. In this way, you will still be able to move your face exactly as you want to, but you will not see those irritating lines popping up whenever you do. For this reason, BOTOX® is said to work best on dynamic wrinkles, which are those that appear when you are smiling, frowning or making other expressions. However, it is not recommended for static lines and wrinkles that have etched themselves into your skin permanently and that are still visible when your face is at rest.
BOTOX® is the common name for botulinum toxin A, a potent neurotoxin that blocks nerve impulses from reaching muscles. Although you may initially feel concerned about the term toxin, this is actually an incredibly safe treatment that has been used for well over two decades to create long-lasting and incredibly realistic results. In fact, it is actually FDA-approved in the United States for several uses and has been used safely and effectively for numerous other off-label purposes over the years as well. By using only the smallest necessary dose for your lines and wrinkles, we ensure your safety. You can certainly use BOTOX® for years with great results. In fact, you may eventually find that you do not need as much BOTOX® within a few years as your body becomes more attuned to it.
Once the BOTOX® is inside the correct muscles, it starts blocking the nerve signals that are telling the muscles to contract. In your face, contractions of the tiniest muscles cause the skin lying over them to crinkle up, causing the look of fine lines over time. Within a few days of your treatment, your existing lines will begin to soften and relax. You may even notice that you do not look as tired or as upset as you once did, helping you to appear more relaxed and approachable. This can lead to better personal confidence, and may even help you excel at work and in social situations as those around you feel that you are more open and approachable.
How Long Does It Take to Work?
With all that being said, you may be wondering how quickly BOTOX® actually starts working once it is injected into your facial muscles and how soon you will be able to see results. After all, if you are choosing a minimally-invasive procedure, you certainly do not want to be waiting weeks or months to be able to see your great results.
One of the best parts about choosing BOTOX® is being able to enjoy just how quickly it works. Not only will your appointment itself go quickly, but also you should be able to see your full results in only a week. In fact, for many people, results begin showing up much sooner than that, with many noting that two days is all it took to reveal some of their initial results. Immediately after your appointment, you may have a bit of redness around the injection sites, but this and any other mild side effects typically disappear within a couple of hours. By that evening, you should look and feel great. Most of our clients return immediately to their usual tasks following their appointments.
Because BOTOX® works so quickly, it has become a go-to treatment for tens of thousands of individuals who want to look great but who do not have much time to spare. It is also an excellent treatment option to be used prior to special events. As long as you receive your injections a week or two prior to your special event, you should be able to see great results by your special day.
Keep in mind that while amazing results will definitely be visible within one week of your injections, you may still be able to notice some continued improvements for up to another week. The time that it takes to see full results will depend on the area that you are treating. For example, if you are using BOTOX® on very shallow lines and wrinkles, you may be able to see some good results in as little as two days with full results appearing within a week. However, for slightly deeper lines and wrinkles, such as those horizontal lines across your forehead or deep vertical frown lines between your eyebrows, you may need to wait the full two weeks to see the best results. Therefore, you will want to check with us to find out when you should have your appointment to time it just right around a special event.
If you are having your first BOTOX® injections, you may want to return to our office within a week or two of your initial appointment. This follow-up appointment will give us a chance to assess how well your face responded to the injections and to see if you are happy with your results. Because we always start with the smallest possible dosage to ensure that your results appear natural, we may need to give you a bit more BOTOX® if you are not yet seeing the full results that you want. By the second or third appointment, we should have a good idea of how much BOTOX® will work best for you. If you are scheduling your first BOTOX® injections before a special event, we may recommend that you have your treatment at least three weeks prior to the event so that you can definitely look your best around friends and family members and feel prepared for being in any photographs.
It is certainly quite common for our patients to want to see perfect results immediately following their first BOTOX® injections. However, keep in mind that by giving the BOTOX® time to work and giving us time to get your dosage just right for you, you can experience the best possible results and can have the time to come back in for follow-up injections if needed. This is considered to be best practice, especially for new patients, and will help you build the best possible relationship with your practitioner.
What Do You Need to Do to Keep Your Good Results?
While BOTOX® works quickly, you should keep in mind that it will not last forever. BOTOX® is a temporary treatment that requires follow-up injections at regular intervals to keep you looking your best. Therefore, while it works quite quickly, it also wears off quickly, lasting only three to six months for most individuals.
Of course, this exact length of time will vary for many people. For example, if you received touch-ups two to three weeks after your initial treatment, you may find that your treatment lasts an extra month. Something else to keep in mind is that BOTOX® should last longer the more you receive the treatments. If you have already been receiving BOTOX® for several years, you may find that your good results last from eight months to even a year depending on where on your face you are getting your injections. This is due to the fact that your facial muscles will eventually become used to BOTOX® and will respond increasingly better to the injections over time. Therefore, consider looking at BOTOX® as a long-term treatment.
If you choose to stop your treatments, you should be aware that your previous lines and wrinkles will reappear because BOTOX® only hides them from view rather than repairing them altogether. However, they will not come back worse than before. Instead, they should look approximately the same as they did when you first began treatments. In addition, stopping treatments will allow new lines and wrinkles to form and will gradually allow old lines to worsen. By letting these wrinkles settle into your face, you could be causing static lines and wrinkles that will not respond at all to BOTOX® and that will require more in-depth minimally-invasive treatments or even cosmetic surgery in the future to correct. Conversely, you may want to consider BOTOX® injections even while you are still in your 20s to prevent future lines and wrinkles from ever forming.
BOTOX® can be used to reduce and prevent lines and wrinkles in a variety of areas around your face and neck. Its swift action can erase those irritating lines across your forehead that appear when you are worried. It can also smooth out frown lines that run vertically between your brows. Additionally, it is FDA-approved for treating the tiny crow’s feet lines that may be appearing at the outer edges of your eyes. However, we can even use BOTOX® for a host of other problems around the face and even on the neck. For example, we can help you get rid of the horizontal bands on your neck or the lines that run between your mouth and nose as long as they are not too deep.
While BOTOX® is most frequently used and best known for treating lines and wrinkles, it actually has a few other cosmetic uses as well. With precise application into the muscles directly above your eyebrows, we can create the look of a light brow lift, helping to open up your eye areas and erasing years from your face. We can also inject it into the tip of your nose for a light lifting action or around your upper lip to create a plumper look or to even out your smile to get rid of that gummy look that may be bothering you. Each of these uses has been carefully studied and perfected through the years, and we can help you get a gorgeously smooth and sculpted face.
Although BOTOX® is a potent neurotoxin, it is exceedingly safe and effective when used in very small and diluted dosages for cosmetic benefits. With numerous benefits for adults of all ages, it continues to grow in popularity as many people are turning away from the invasiveness of cosmetic surgeries and are looking instead for faster and safer minimally-invasive cosmetic treatments that can still help them meet their goals. We would love to help you meet your cosmetic goals as well and would encourage you to schedule an appointment at our office so that we can create a customized treatment plan just for you. At this appointment, we can answer any questions you might have about BOTOX® and can determine if this is the best treatment option for your goals and skincare needs.
It is no surprise why so many thousands of adults around the world love BOTOX® and include it in their regular skin care regimen. BOTOX® works powerfully, erasing lines and wrinkles from the face and neck and giving people back their lost confidence so that they can feel better about themselves whether they are at home, at work or at a party. Plus, because it has so few side effects and requires little to no downtime, users can enjoy quick treatments and quick results. In a week or less, you can have a beautifully smooth, unlined face as well. Consider us here at Refresh Evolution in Port Moody or Port Meadows if you are considering this treatment.
